The Sound of Music

This last December, C and I got the opportunity to be involved in a Muncie Civic production of The Sound of Music. C was thrilled to be cast as Gretl. She was double cast in the roll, so she played the darling little girl 4 out of 8 performances. She did an excellent job in her first real production. She is a natural!


Amy enjoyed playing the part of the maid, Ursula. She stayed back stage most of the time, helping do the girl's hair (especially C's), in many different styles for the show helping with costume changes, and making sure she didn't miss her two entrances on stage. :) She litterally ran back and forth from stage to back stage at least 10 times a perfomance.
It was a good introduction to the theatre for Amy, as this was her first time back on stage since college... and that was being in the chorus... much different. Plus, she enjoyed all the action back stage. You would be amazed at how silly we are back there! :)

C enjoyed this production so much, she was quite teary even when she found out she only had 2 performances left. She went through a bit of withrawl when the show was over. Our kids still sing the songs and dance to the practice tracks! Even T knows the words by heart!

We were really proud of A, as she tried out for the part of Marta, but got beat out by another little girl that had many plays under her belt. A Handled it very well, and was able to shine in her own production... more on that later.
C also used this production to share her faith with the cast. She was found reciting or singing scripture at least once... just for fun, because one of her "siblings" was reading the Bible and they asked her if she knew any verses. She also had been learning to share her faith with "The wordless book" in her Co-op Bible class. She got the chance and was excited to do so with one of the cast memebers that she had a heart for.
What a special mother/daughter time. Neither mother nor daughter will ever forget it, I am sure! Amy and the girls hope to do more shows in the future.
